My First Post

Hi my name is Faye Spath I am a .net developer with over 13 years of experience in development. I haven’t always worked in the latest and greatest technologies. I started out my career as a Java developer in college with an internship with a mortgage company. After graduating from college I was excited about my career and took a job as a Cobol programmer. Yes you read that right a Cobol programmer. My boss said you will be working on the user interface and I was all excited thinking yes I am going to work with the UI but to my surprise I realized all it was were black screens with green text. Not exciting at all for a young person right out of college wanting to work in a object oriented programming language. After spending about 2 years doing Cobol programming I moved into another position at the same company doing java programming. I found my niche but then layoffs came and I was back looking for another job I found a job as vb.net programmer and this is where my life as a .net programmer began. I spent 7 years developing in .net from vb.net to C# from asp.net application to WPF applications which has now brought me to my current .net position working on a banking application that is written in C#. Who knows what the future will bring but I know it will be in a Microsoft technology for me.
